Our Mission & Vision
Our Mission
To collect, preserve, interpret, and share the diverse history and genealogy of Yuba County through education, exhibitions, public programs, and community partnerships that engage residents and visitors of all ages.
Our Vision for a Permanent Museum
A Museum for Yuba County — Starting Now
We are excited to share that we are leasing a facility in Marysville that will serve as the home of the Yuba County Museum of History.
This space allows us to open our doors, begin sharing exhibits, and start building momentum — while we continue raising funds for a larger, permanent museum in the future.
This is the first step in bringing a true community museum to life.
Our leased location will serve as:
* A welcoming exhibit space
* A place for community events and gatherings
* A home for educational programs
* A safe space to store and organize historical items
It gives us the opportunity to begin serving the public right away while we grow.
Exhibit Space
At our Marysville location, visitors will be able to explore exhibits featuring:
* Early settlement and Gold Rush history
* Agriculture and local industry
* Community stories and family histories
* Important moments that shaped Yuba County
We plan to rotate exhibits regularly so there is always something new to see.
In the future, we hope to expand into a larger space that allows for permanent exhibits, interactive displays, and special traveling exhibits.
Educational Programs
We believe history should be accessible and engaging for everyone.
Our programming will include:
* Guest speakers and local history talks
* School group visits
* Workshops and special events
* Volunteer and docent opportunities
As we grow, we hope to build strong partnerships with local schools and offer even more learning opportunities for students and families.
Protecting Our History
Preserving historical materials is at the heart of what we do.
In our current facility, we are organizing and safely storing:
* Photographs
* Documents
* Artifacts
* Personal and community collections
Our long-term goal is to create a professionally designed archival space with climate control and research access so future generations can continue to learn from these materials.
Growing Together
Leasing our Marysville space is just the beginning.
With the support of our community, we will continue to grow — building membership, raising funds, and planning for a larger, permanent museum home.
This museum belongs to Yuba County.
And together, we are building it.
